About Us

Our skincare is comprised of essential components and excludes ingredients that are more for ease of manufacturing and shelf stability than your skin. This means a little bit of product goes a long way.
Containers and packaging are selected to minimize non-recyclable waste. Sustainability is a journey - as we grow we will continue to identify ways to improve.
A bit about me
I have a B.S. in Chemistry and a Ph.D in Pharmacology and Toxicology, which is basically the study of how chemicals interact with biology.
I have worked in the biotechnology industry for 10 years, including serving as Vice President of Research for a company focused on reproductive health. In this role I first learned how exposures to certain chemicals in our environment, such as phthalates, can negatively affect sperm and eggs, reproductive outcomes and overall health.
When I began making my own skin care products to reduce single use plastics I was shocked at some of the ingredients in skincare products we use everyday. These ingredients are not beneficial for our skin but rather act as preservatives or stabilizers to increase product shelf life. I decided to see if I could make skincare products that only contained ingredients that benefit our skin.
As I discussed this idea with friends and family I was surprised that so many were also interested in clean skin care products, and Elementary Apothecary was born.
